Animal lard is often reported to be not the most suitable feedstock to biodiesel production, but it can also be used. One of the biggest meat producing companies in the world, the Bertin group, is currently using some lard-based biodiesel blends in its ranch trucks.

In my grandpa's farm we used to make candles and soap with the lard. For fuel he has even used moonshine (corn alcohol) in some old cars he had and even a gasifier pan from WWII but didn't replace totally the gasoline.
Animal-based biodiesel would possibly not be so successful commercially because of those extremist vegetarians/vegans but is also an option to be considered for those intending to homebrew their fuel.
